How to run a great trivia session

Trivia with seniors works best as conversation with prompts, not a contest. Read each question aloud, give it room to breathe, and follow the memories wherever they go — the question about drive-in speakers matters less than the story about a first date at the drive-in. Offer the first letter as a gentle hint, celebrate every answer, and stop while it's still fun.

Questions families ask

How do I use trivia with a senior who has dementia?

Keep it social, not scored. Read questions aloud, offer the first letter as a hint, and treat every answer — right or wrong — as a doorway to a story. The goal is conversation, not correctness.

How many questions should one session have?

Ten to fifteen questions is plenty for most groups. End while it's still fun.

What decade of trivia works best?

Most people recall their teens and twenties most vividly (the 'reminiscence bump'). For today's seniors, that usually means the 1950s–1970s.
